In the beginning stages of the Sydney lock outs Picnic’s Carly Roberts worked quite closely with Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh to help mobilise our city to rally against the governments vendetta on our night time economy, often from the hub of Harpoon Harry where Picnic Social Sundays where held at the time.

Five years on, KSO can celebrate their biggest win yet as our city is about to be handed back the hours between 1.30am – 3am and they’re teaming up with Picnic and Harpoon Harry asking you to mobilise once again; this time to dance at our 10th House Party to celebrate this huge win for our city.

Picnic has enlisted the sought after dance instructing skills of New York’s most famous radio DJ – Beats In Space’s Tim Sweeney – and an absolute round up of Picnic’s regular DJs at Harpoon Harry; where’s their just celebrated three years booking the weekend music!

Everyone from Moodymann, Chez Damier, Mood II Swing, Rick Wilhite, Harvey Sutherland, Seb Wildblood, Jayda G, Moxie, Lone, Project Pablo, Tornado Wallace, Sleep D, Wax’O Paradiso, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Mr Sweeney himself and long (long list) of local heroes have helped shape the current sound of Sydney’s most well programmed weekend destination, and now Harry’s is finally unlocked…

Barnt surfaced to a wider audience in the summer of 2010, when he founded the Cologne based label Magazine with Jens-Uwe Beyer and Crato. Drawing from the rich musical heritage of the Rhine area, they reintroduced the romantic and the celestial to the electronic music scene via club tracks. It hardly seemed possible to merge these ethereal feelings with the energy of dance music back then, but Barnt’s “What Is A Number, That A Man May Know It?” connected the apparent opposites so effortlessly that the 2010 track became a blueprint for a new generation of producers. What followed was a streak of club hits. While different in style, “Geffen” 2012, “Chappell” 2014 and “If She Says She Is A Healer, She Is A Healer” 2017 all had maximum impact in the club, due to Barnt’s unique approach that provokes strong reactions through striking simplicity. This clarity of ideas stems from his experience of playing forward thinking clubs and festivals in more than 40 countries over the last two decades. This year Barnt launched the label Schalen with Beyer and Crato. Barnt’s inaugural release “High Hopes And Local Fame” set the tone for what’s to come: Vigour and warmth within one world.

He returns to Good Room and will be joined by Beats in Space radio host, label and party founder and a Good Room favorite, Tim Sweeney. Plus LA's Dig Deeper resident DJ and co-founder Masha will be on warm up duties for the night. Goonroom takes over the Bad Room with special guest Sweely playing live. One of the most creative and eclectic French producers of the new generation, effortlessly navigating between house, minimal and electro. Sweely will be joined by Goonroom's resident DJs Day Cart and Wig-Wam

TIM SWEENEY es un presentador de radio, DJ y productor con renombre internacional. Su programa de radio Beats In Space, con casi 900 episodios archivados, ha estado funcionando desde 1999 y del mismo se ha desprendido un sello discográfico. Tim ha cambiado el juego con su estilo al lanzar a través de su plataforma a muchos artistas del sello discográfico DFA (LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, James Murphy, Hercules y Love Affair), al mismo tiempo que ha expandido los horizontes de los DJs al fungir como supervisor musical en videojuegos como GTA: San Andreas, The Warriors, entre otros.

ANDRÜ es un DJ alegre, enérgica, nacida y criada en Tampico, lugar que influenció con tropicalidad su estilo que combina diversos géneros de electrónica y pop de los 90s. Tim Sweeney is a NYC-based radio host, DJ and producer known for his long- running show Beats In Space on WNYU / 89.1FM. Over the course of almost two decades (Est.1999), Sweeney has built Beats In Space into an iconic brand, described by the New York Times as “a vital component of underground dance culture.” With over 900 archived episodes, the show has become a historical documentation of the underground electronic scene. Beats In Space has launched Sweeney’s career as one of New York’s most sought-after DJs.

Beats In Space Records was launched in 2011. Through this versatile record label, Sweeney showcases artists pushing the boundaries of dance music. 2019 has been a busy year for Beats In Space Records, with the release of the first In Space mix series featuring Powder, Johannes Klingebel’s 12” Positional Play, and Anatolian Weapons’ forthcoming LP To The Mother of Gods.

Kza is one half of a DJ/ production team Force of Nature, and pursues their own individualistic style in underground dance music with a strong affection to the sampling/ vinyl culture. He has been producing quality music with a truly "natural" approach. Not only have they released three albums "The Forces of Nature," "II," and "III" in the past, he has contributed in producing and remixing both Japanese and international acts, and has took part in various projects including an animation film soundtrack "Samurai Champloo." As a DJ by trade, he plays frequently in Tokyo, travels around not only Japan but to Europe and the United States to rock the crowd day and night with his broad collection of tasteful vinyls hunted and dug out on a daily basis over many years. Lately, he has been active not only as Force of Nature but also on his own, and has released a solo debut full-length "D.A.E." in 2009 on Mule Musiq's sub label Endless Flight. His latest production, a single "Le Troublant Acid," came out in December 2010. Furthermore in 2010, he founded his own imprint called Let's Get Lost, and his own work was just released on it in April 2012. He released his latest album,『D.A.E. 2』in 2014 and has been touring in North America every year since 2015.

Under the unofficial tagline “A label for music, culture and home to degenerates”, San Francisco based independent record label Public Release Recordings was founded by Eugene “Eug” Whang in 2009. The label was launched as a platform for music produced by Eug’s immediate circle of friends, and although ten years on the scope is now unmistakably international, that sense of community remains. The discography, which by the end of 2019 will comprise of 21 releases, features more than two dozen contributing artists including Tim Sweeney, Jacques Renault, Earth Boys, Mark E, Velvet Season & The Hearts of Gold, Eric Duncan, Khotin and Force of Nature. There is no definitive sound attached to the label, but rather each release is carried out as a focussed individual project, receiving its own distinct direction and treated with the utmost care and attention to detail.

A long time DJ, Eug took on the role of “party promoter” due to not finding the exact party he wanted to frequent. He would start the party FACE in 2007, aiming to bridge the gap between San Francisco’s bar and club scenes. After outgrowing its small dive bar origins, Eug moved the party into larger club venues where he has hosted notables such as DJ Harvey, James Murphy, Virgil Abloh, Jamie XX, and many more. Regardless of the size and nature of the venue, the music policy has always been about mixing things up and offering plenty of variety. This philosophy of musical diversity and anything goes, would eventually birth the FACE party mantra - “Its not a genre, it's a feeling”.

Every Tuesday night at 10:30pm, anybody within radius of WNYU's transmitter can tune into 89.1 FM for this dance music show hosted by the DJ Tim Sweeney. Tim has had the show, Beats in Space, since he was a college student and on September 27 we'll be celebrating the shows 20th Anniversary. Over the years Tim has hosted everyone from legends to up and comers to lesser known heroes, giving everyone a chance to share their sound with the world. Over the years Beats in Space has grown from not only a radio show but to a party and record label and 20 years on, shows no sign of slowing down.

Tim will be playing at the 20 Year party and will be joined by Chicago's deep groove and house DJ Jamie 3:26, Japanese acid/house/techno producer Gonno and Force of Nature's KZA, Internet Powerlifting Federation and Chomp! Chomp!

Γιορτάζοντας τα 15 χρόνια του Reworks Festival, το φετινό Reworks Agora αλλάζει μορφή, μεταφέρεται στο κέντρο της πόλης, είναι ανοιχτό σε όλους και σηματοδοτεί με τον καλύτερο τρόπο την έναρξη της φετινής -επετειακής- διοργάνωσης.

To Ypsilon υποδέχεται την 4η έκδοση του #ReworksAgora που έρχεται να αψηφήσει τα κλισέ και να φέρει στο προσκήνιο μια αφοσιωμένη δημιουργική κοινότητα, που εργάζεται στο πεδίο για να θέσει πίσω της το μοιρολατρισμό και την εποχή της παθητικής παρατήρησης.

Μια σειρά από ομιλίες και συζητήσεις θα ανατρέψουν στερεοτυπικές αντιλήψεις, που ανακυκλώνουν ξεπερασμένες κοινωνικές νόρμες και θα αντιπροτείνουν νέες επίκαιρες ιδέες συνυφασμένες με το ραγδαία μεταβαλλόμενο και τεχνολογικά τροφοδοτούμενο παρόν. Την Κυριακή 15 Σεπτεμβρίου, προσωπικότητες, που έχουν καταφέρει να μας εμπνεύσουν από το χώρο του πολιτισμού, της τεχνολογίας και του ακτιβισμού θα μοιραστούν τις εμπειρίες τους και τη συμβολή τους στη νέα περίοδο συλλογικής περιπέτειας, όπου η δημιουργία είναι στο επίκεντρο της καθημερινότητας όλων.

Στο μουσικό μέρος του Reworks Agora θα παρουσιαστεί ο Αμερικάνος πιανίστας και τραγουδιστής Peter Broderick, γνωστός από τη συμμετοχή του στους περίφημους Efterklang. Ένας πολυγραφότατος και ολοκληρωμένος μουσικός, που έχει εδώ και μια δεκαετία ηχογραφήσει μια πλειάδα προσωπικών studio albums στην Erased Tapes Records. Πλησιάζοντας στο τέλος της ημέρας, στον εξωτερικό χώρο του Ypsilon και την -ίσως- πιο όμορφη αστική γειτονιά της πόλης, το Reworks Agora θα κλείσει με ένα street party κι ένα απολαυστικό line up, προετοιμάζοντας το έδαφος για ένα απολαυστικό τετραήμερο Reworks Festival!

Beyond clichés

Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Reworks Festival, this year Reworks Agora changes its format, moves downtown, is open to everyone and that’s the best way to start of this year's festivities.
Ypsilon welcomes #ReworksAgora 4th edition, which aims to defy the cliches and bring to the forefront a dedicated creative community, working in the field to leave behind fatalism and the age of passive observation.

A series of lectures and discussions will overturn stereotypical perceptions that recycle outdated social norms and propose new up-to-date ideas intertwined with the rapidly changing and technologically powered present. On Sunday, September 15, powerful personalities, who have been able to inspire us in the field of culture, technology, and activism will share their experiences and their contribution to the new period of collective adventure, where creativity is at the center of everyone's day-to-day life.

The music part of this year’s event will feature American pianist and singer Peter Broderick, known for his involvement in the famous Efterklang. A highly accomplished and accomplished musician who has recorded a number of personal studio albums on Erased Tapes Records for over a decade.

At the end of the day, Reworks Agora will close with a big open-air party and a delightful line-up, paving the way for an enjoyable four-day Reworks Festival!
